Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Carpet Cluster
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Carpet cluster has begun its activity in July 2015 in Yasouj. The number of weavers are about 30,000 people, most of whom are highly skilled in weaving.
There are 85 cooperation workshops in the province. Near 10 percent of the province handwovens are produced by these workshops and over 90 percent of the productions are done at home.
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad has two types of weaving: Persian knot which is common between Lur people and also Turkish knot that is used by Qashqai and Ghachsaran people.
These designs have antiquity and beauty, and are made by the artists’ hands and nomadic women generation by generation.
The low technology tools and accessories are used here. Therefore, using natural colors in the texture shows the high quality of production that is also compatible with the environment. It is worth to know that all hand-weavers in the province are women and girls.
